Susie Mitchell Martin, 72 of Moneta, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014. She was born on Sunday, May 4, 1941 in Henry County, a daughter of the late James Edmond Mitchell and Sadie Jane Martin Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Iley Martin, & a daughter, Brenda Goad. She was a retired employee of Burlington Industries and was a member of Chamblissburg Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Hansford & husband, Ray of Roanoke, Donna Wines & husband, Willie of Catawba; three sons, Ronnie Martin & wife, Deborah of Moneta, Terry Martin of Moneta, Jeffrey Martin & wife, Robin of Bedford; two brothers, James Mitchell & wife, Joyce of Bedford, Danny Mitchell & wife, Melody of Hardy, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Chamblissburg Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Ward officiating. Interment will follow in Morgans Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday after 1 PM and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
