He was also preceded in death by his sister Brenda Bryant. Left to cherish his memories is his wife Wilma C. Johnson, daughters Laura Walton & her husband Norm of Forest and Jenny Franklin of Bedford. In addition he is survived by 3 grandchildren, Colby Wade Walton, Reagan Glyn Walton and Emma Grace Franklin. Brothers Billy E. Johnson and Cecil B. Johnson & wife Elsie all of Bedford. He retired after 30 years of service with Babcock & Wilcox, Naval Nuclear Fuel Division of Lynchburg, VA. He was a member of Woodman of the World and the Loyal order of the Moose, Bedford Lodge 1897. His hands were his greatest talent, there was nothing that he could not fix. This talent was also expressed in his love of woodworking and crafting beautiful furniture from pieces of wood. He was also a master gardener, growing and sharing the "Best tomatoes" you have ever eaten. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that those wishing to make memorials consider the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, New York, 10163-4777 or the Friends of Lynchburg Hematology & Oncology, Attention Shirley Morris, 1701 Thompson Drive Suite 200, Lynchburg, VA 24501. The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. G. Fred Wooten of the University of Virginia and Dr. Cecilia M. MacCallum and staff at the Alan B. Pearson Lynchburg Hematology and Oncology Clinic, Seven Hills Hospice of Lynchburg and a group of special people called Heavenly Hands. Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Danny Holdren officiating.
