Mamie Hackworth Pittmon, 81 of Gretna, passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Gretna Health Care Center. She was born on Tuesday, May 3, 1932 in Campbell County, a daughter of the late Columbus Hackworth and Bertha Wilson Hackworth. She worked on the family farm and was a caretaker to her parents until their death. Before her declining health, she enjoyed quilting, crafts, and especially her friends. She was a member of Independence United Methodist Church. Surviving is her son, Carroll Edward "Eddie" Pittmon, Jr. & wife, Susie of Gretna; a sister, Sallie Pagans of Vinton as well as numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Independence Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Stedman Payne officiating. There is no visitation at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
