Bobbie Wayne Ashwell, 84 of Huddleston, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Autumn Care of Altavista. He was born on Thursday, May 30, 1929 in Roanoke, a son of the late Martin Luther Ashwell and Cordie Cameona Leftwich Ashwell. He was a retired employee of the City of Bedford as an Electrician and was a member of Huddleston United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife, Jeanne Basham Ashwell; a daughter, Rebecca A. Crouse & husband, Michael of Independence; a son, Bobbie Wayne Ashwell & wife, Daphne of Huddleston; grandchildren, Peyton C. Hash, Stacey Hash, Chesley Hash, Justin Crouse, Travis Crouse, Krista Chittum & Devin Ashwell; three great grandchildren as well as his aunt, Marie Creasey of Huddleston. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 305, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Huddleston United Methodist Church, 4491 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA with Rev. Steve Turner & Rev. David Bayse officiating. Interment will follow in Leftwich Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 12:00 pm at the church. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
