Raymond Gordon Kidd, 77 of Hurt, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, April 18, 1937 in Campbell Co., a son of the late Willie Sinkler Kidd and Mildred Myers Kidd. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Delano, Charles, Willie, Jr., Fred & Grady Kidd and a step-brother, Tony Kidd. He was a retired employee of the Lane Company and was a member of Altavista Church of God of Prophecy. Surviving is his wife, Joyce Burnette Kidd; brothers & sisters-in-law, Spencer & Sarah Kidd, Robert & Janice Kidd, all of Hurt; half-brother, Mark Kidd of Renan, step-sister, Rose Meeks of Hurt, sisters-in-law & brother-in-law, Alice & Glenn Hancock of Huddleston, Tamera Hutcherson, Joyce H. Kidd, both of Hurt, Eleanor Kidd of Evington; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Rolen & Joan Burnette of PA. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Atlavista Church of God of Prophecy, 9th & Amherst Street, Altavista, VA 24517 or The Gideons International, Altavista Camp, P. O. Box 193, Altavista, VA 24517. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Altavista Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Wayne Murphy & Rev. Robert Lanter officiating. Interment will follow in Palestine Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at the Altavista Church of God of Prophecy. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
