Geneva Stone Tucker, 90, of Evington, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, May 7th, at Avante Nursing Home in Lynchburg. Born December 15, 1923 in Mount Hope, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late William Harvey Stone and Annie Frances Gibson Stone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Tucker, whom she married May 26, 1951, in Lynchburg, and who passed away October 16, 2000; two brothers, Milford Stone, Eugene Stone; three sisters, baby Louise Elizabeth Stone, Arlene Pullum and Lois Wilson. Mrs. Tucker was employed by N&W Industry where she was a clothing inspector prior to being married. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and helped her husband farm where she milked the cows, fed the hogs and chickens, gardened, canned and sewed. She was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and WMU member. She sang alto for the Bethlehem Quartet. She is survived by a son, Timothy Lee Tucker and his wife, Laura of Evington; one granddaughter, Beth Cook and her husband Aaron of Salem; two sisters, Melva Martin and Gertrude Stone; one brother, Cephus Stone; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Guggenheimer, Avante Nursing Homes and Centra Hospice. A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery officiated by her nephew, Rev. Earnest Carey. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
