Mildred Garnett Woodford, 84, passed at home May 11, 2014. Mildred was a devoted and loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Mildred was married to Marcus K. Woodford, Sr.for 59 years, who passed this February, and is survived by their three sons: Marcus K. Woodford, Jr., Charles G. Woodford, Richard G. Woodford, Sr. and ten grandchildren. Mildred was born in Boydton, VA and was a Graduate of Longwood College. She started her career in Bedford, VA as a County Agent where she met and married Marcus in 1954. Best known for treating everyone as a friend, never meeting a stranger, and her open "sit on the porch" hospitality. She loved cooking, visiting with family, friends and neighbors, and was a long time member of her Oxford Square Garden Club. Mildred was spirited, supportive and lived life with a positive attitude. A visitation will be held in Atlanta, GA on Friday, May 16th, from 6 - 8 pm at H. M. Patterson and Son at Oglethorpe Hill located at 4550 Peachtree Rd. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 3 PM with Rev. Greg Soult officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1 until 2:30 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
