Clayton Irvin Watson, 71 of Moneta, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on Friday, September 18, 1942 in Bedford, a son of the late Edward Herbert Watson and Mary Willis Watson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Watson Ayers. He was a retired boilermaker for Norfolk Southern with 33 years of service and was a member of Emmaus United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Ketron Watson, daughter, Jennifer W. Cassidy & her husband Rodney of Moneta, 2 sons; Gary Clayton Watson & Kevin Michael Watson both of Moneta, 2 Grandchildren; Brian Cassidy of Moneta & Daniel Settle of Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at Emmaus United Methodist Church with Rev. Bryan Sheehan, Rev. Paul Greer, Pastor Karl Hofheinz, Rev. Mickey White officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, July 06, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
