Obituary of Lizzie Mitchell Perdue

Lizzie Mitchell Perdue of Moneta, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Friendship Manor Health Care Center. She was born in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ernest Luck Mitchell and Daisy Martin Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Rufus Perdue. She was a retired employee of Smyfth Stone Container and was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church, Martinsville. Surviving are her brothers, Robert A. Mitchell of Rustburg, James Lewis Mitchell & wife, Norma of Moneta; a sister, Lena Woody of South Gate, MI; her sisters-in-law, Marlene Mitchell & husband, Larry Hill of Blue Ridge, Hazel Mitchell of Bedford as well as numerous nieces & nephews. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider your local humane society. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 11 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. At her request, there is no visitation. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
