Madine Scott Stephenson, 90 of Bedford County died Tuesday, July 13, 2010. She was born on Friday, August 22, 1919 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late Luther James Scott and Mary Frances McCabe Scott of Bedford. Her husband Elbert A. Stephenson preceded her in death. She is survived by their seven children and spouses, Steve Stephenson & wife, Barbara of Fayetteville, AK; Jim Stephenson & wife, Shirley of Stuarts Draft; Barbara Harper & husband, Tommy of Bedford; Carol Schenker & husband, Martin of Glen Allen; Wayne Stephenson & wife, April of Bedford; Deborah Lee & husband, Steve of Roanoke; Lynn Stephenson & wife, Kathryn of Ruckersville; eighteen grandchildren and spouses, Becky, Scott and Amy, Chris and Michelle, Rob, Mike, Fran and Gerald, Kristie and Dan, James, Allison, Craig, Nate, Stephanie, Alyssa, Joshua, Katelyn and Zack, Beth, Heather, Nick; and nine great grandchildren. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Moneta Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 497, Moneta, Va 24121. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford. A private family graveside will be held at the Stephenson Family Cemetery.
