Mr. Morris was a fantastic bus driver for Staunton River High students attending Governor's School. He made us feel special and loved. He stopped by a fast food restaurant occasionally for us to get lunch and gave us Christmas cards. He even went the extra mile... literally! I realized that I forgot a project at my house as my parents dropped me off at the bus stop. He drove 5 miles down the road to my house so I could get my project. I am now a science teacher, and he has set a great example of how to encourage and care for youth.

I am so saddened by the passing of H.L. He was very special to me...such a unique character who showed me so much kindness and thoughtfulness. I didn't see him much but when I did, he would light up the room with his smile and my heart with whatever generous words he had for me that day. I am sorry I couldn't be at his service but my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Heaven has another angel...
With my deepest sympathy,
Susan Shorter

H.L. was one of more colorful and interesting people I ever known. He taught me a lot of business moves including what not to do unloading a boxcar of salt working a bunch of winos! Ha! I will be out of town for the service Todd but I hope to see you soon.

H.L. was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. He was my father-in-law for fifteen years. He was a wonderful grandfather to my children and stepchildren. My sons have cherished memories of riding in Granddaddy's school bus and his "red monster truck." In the first four years after Doris passed away, (until he was no longer able,) he didn't miss a birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Pinewood Derby race. He was everything a Granddaddy should be and then some, even though we weren't biologically his. His stories were some of the best we'd ever heard, and his laugh had no equal. Our lives are richer because of having had "Granddaddy H" as a part of them.

Dear Marshall, Pat and loved ones of Chunk,
Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of a precious brother, father, granddad, and cousin. I have fond memories of a very happy go lucky cousin and am so glad I was able to see him @ the reunion. Daughter Cyndi got me the wonderful reunion pictures and I am so thankful for the memories. We are so sorry we cannot be there on Sat. but our hearts will be with you. Love to all, Jane

To Todd, Becky, Nicki and Edward, the 5 grandchildren and Brother & Sister I send my heart felt love to each of you and I ask God to comfort each of you as needed in this a time of grief. I am so thankful for the time that I knew H.L. and his crazy sence of humor. I guess he felt a good laugh is better than a cry. Know that we all are praying for each of you and God is preparing the way. With much love to all, Judy
