Tony Ray Karnes, 47, of Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at his home. He was born on Thursday, April 18, 1963 in Bedford, a son of William Ray Karnes and Mae Cheek Karnes of Bedford. He was a caregiver at the Central Virginia Community Services Longwood Group Home and was a member of Tinity Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is survived by two sisters, Rhonda Denise Karnes, Lynchburg, and Kimberly Mitchell and husband Keith of Huddleston; three nephews, Austin Mitchell, Ethan Mitchell, and Jonathan Mitchell; a niece, Lauren Mitchell; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Trinity Baptist Church, 947 Lyle Street, Bedford, VA 24523. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Delong officiating. Interment will follow in Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
