Betty Witt Wilkerson, 79 of Bedford, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 27, 2014 after a long illness. She was born on Sunday, April 14, 1935 in Buchanan, a daughter of the late James Corbitt Witt and Ethel Catherine Ferrell Witt. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Elmer "Jimmy" Wilkerson, two sisters, Doris Witt Davidson, Clara Witt Trail & two brothers, James Calvin Witt & Dennis Edward "Dickie" Witt. Betty was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She was also a longtime member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Jerry Wilkerson & wife, Teri, Cathy Logwood & husband, Gene, Kim Smith & husband, Dick; four grandchildren, Joseph Wilkerson & wife, Ashley, Jessica Shrewsbury, Diana Wilkerson & Kyle Smith; three great grandchildren, Thomas & Jaxon Shrewsbury & Grayson Wilkerson; Betty is also survived by a brother, William J. Witt. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
