Ozella Creasy Ashwell, 90 of Bedford, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. She was born on Tuesday, November 13, 1923 in Altavista, a daughter of the late Asa Gilbert Creasy and Reva May Burnette Creasy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey J. Ashwell, Sr., a sister, Effie C. Bramlett, two brothers, Calvin C. Creasy & A. G. Creasy, Jr. She was retired from Moneta Dress Factory and Bedford Memorial Hospital and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church. Surviving is her son, D. J. Ashwell, Jr. & his wife, Carol of Bedford; her daughter, Christine A. Ayers & her husband, Grady of Bedford; two granddaughters, Tamara Davenport & her husband, Steve, Trista A. Robertson & her husband, Mark all of Bedford; her grandson, Tim G. Ayers & his friend, Brandy of Huddleston as well as five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Jackie Carver & Rev. Bryan Sheehan officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12 noon until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
