Obituary of Billy Edward Johnson

Billy E. Johnson, 72, of Bedford, joined his faithful hounds in heaven on November 13, 2014. He was born February 23, 1942 in Bedford to the late Osby B. and Verna A. Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Bryant & his bother, Glen F. Johnson. Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Michael Johnson of Bedford and Barry Johnson and wife, Sonja of Vine Grove, KY. In addition, he is survived by one grandchild, Ashley Goodman and husband, Pat, and great-grandchild Aiden Matthew Coyle of Bardstown, KY; brother, Cecil B. Johnson and wife, Elsie of Bedford; sisters, Anna Whalen and husband, Bob of Goode, Phyllis Smith and Sammy of Rustburg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He retired after 30 years of service with Babcock & Wilcox, Naval Nuclear Fuel Division of Lynchburg, VA and then worked another 10 years at Southern States of Bedford. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Bedford Lodge #1897. Dad loved his animals and could field the best pack of beagles in the state. He was an avid gardener and would help anyone without having to be asked. The family also wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. John L. MacNeill Jr., Dr. Angela Brady and staff at the Alan B. Pearson Lynchburg Hematology and Oncology Clinic, and Jasmine Franklin, Vicky Littles and staff of Liberty Ridge Health and Rehab. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday November 16, 2014 at 2 PM at the Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Holdren officiating.
