Obituary of Fred B. Sink

Fred B. Sink, 82 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Elks National Home. He was born on Saturday, March 5, 1932 in Roanoke, a son of the late Jesse Henry Sink and Nannie Rebecca Pugh Sink. He retired as Virginia State Trooper with forty-two years and was a veteran of the U. S. Marines having served in the Korean War. Surviving are his daughters, Rebecca S. Becker & husband, Douglas of Montvale, Kathy D. Sink, Karen S. Reid & husband, Kenneth all of Salem; his son, Larry Phillip Sink & wife, Mary Fran of Bedford; grandchildren, Cassie Brown, Damien Sink, Matthew Reid; great-grandchildren, Kalen Flowers, Kallianne "Sissy" Brown & Liam Brown; his wife of thirty years, Mildred L. Sink of Salem. The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all of the staff and residents at the Elks National Home for all the love and friendship shown to our wonderful father. A special thanks also to all of the staff at Special Care and Southern Care Hospice who showed our father so much love. A funeral service will be held at the graveside at Virginia Memorial Park on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 12:30 pm with Rev. Harry Stevens officiating. Military honors will be offered by American Legion Post #16. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 AM until 12 noon at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and from 2 until 4 PM at the Elks National Home.
