William Jackson "Bill" Witt, 90 of Bedford, passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Sunday, July 27, 1924 in Bedford County, a son of the late James Corbett Witt and Ethel Ferrell Witt. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Leighton Witt & a grandson, Terry W. Witt. He was retired from Lionberger Construction, was a member of the Bedford Moose #1897, the Ponderosa Club, VFW Post #2157, Elks Lodge #321 and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his sons, David Russell Witt & wife, Kathy, Stephen Ronald Witt & wife, Linda, Bobby Jackson Witt all of Bedford, daughter, Vickie Diane Zechini & husband, Lamont of Forest; grandchildren, Michael Ford, Kelly Witt, Tanya Stinnett, Brandon Webster; great-grandchildren, Anna Ford, Whitney Ford, Ty Stinnett & Audrey Stinnett. Funeral services will be held at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating. Military honors will be offered by American Legion Post #16. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
