Obituary of Angie Ayers Patterson

Angie Ellen Ayers Patterson of Bedford passed away in the company of her family on the 21st of December, 2014. Our mother and grandmother is survived by her nine grandchildren, the true joys of her life, Taylor Hart Patterson, Morgan Hart Patterson, Christian Ray Arthur, Conner Christopher Patterson, Lauren Ashley Patterson, Samantha Phoenix Patterson, Brooke Diana Patterson, Katie Allison Arthur and Emily Elizabeth Patterson; her children Travis Patterson and his wife, Danielle, Christopher “Turtle” Patterson and his wife, LeeAnn, Patrick Patterson and his wife, Cheerre, Anne Marie “Ree-Ree” Arthur and her husband, Don. Angie is also survived by her sister Patsy Dooley and her husband, Don; her sister Joe Ann Graham, her brother Robert “Bobby” Ayers and his wife, Jan; her sister in law Gladys Ayers and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Bill and Lilly Ayers, her sister Sue Dick, her brother Bill Ayers, her brother-in-law Al Graham and a nephew she loved very much, Brian Dooley. Mom’s entire life was dedicated to her family. She was incredibly devoted to her children and grandchildren and their happiness. Time spent with her siblings, nieces and nephews was always cherished. There were countless mornings spent talking and having coffee with her sisters which she loved. Music, dancing and theatre were always an important aspect of Angie’s life. She was Ms. Bedford in 1960 and went on to perform in a singing group with her sisters, and in countless plays with the Little Town Players. The friendships she established while performing were important throughout her life. The church was a constant comfort for Angie. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith which helped her through some challenging times. Angie’s mind was taken by Alzheimer’s about five years ago but with a strong will and faith she fought an insidious disease but is now sitting with God celebrating her new birth and the birthday of our savior Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday December 26th. Angie’s memorial service will be held at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Bedford on Saturday December 27th at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers Angie would appreciate donations be made to Autism awareness and research on behalf other granddaughter Brooke.
