Obituary of Christine Ellis

Christine Bobbitt Ellis, 87 of Moneta, VA passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at her home. She was an angel in disguise. Her heart was pure as gold. Although her health slowly declined since the death of her husband in 1999 she lived and died with grace, she asked for nothing, never complained and was very appreciative of everything anyone did for her. She was an extraordinary, kind and caring person, who provided a loving home for both immediate and extended family members. Her life touched many people. She was born on Sunday, May 20, 1923 in Bedford County, VA, a daughter of the late George Richard Bobbitt and Nora Bradley Bobbitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband Randolph Ellis, 10 Brothers, 2 sisters, son-in-law, Odell Witt, husband of Dianne Witt and a grandson, Donald Ray Ellis. She was a retired seamstress from Halmode Apparel as well as a part time deli worker at Shoprite. She was a member of East Lake Community Church. Surviving are her daughters, Betty Jean Leonard of Vinton, Diane E. Witt of Bedford and Judy E. Catron & her husband Larry of Vinton; her sons Earnest Ellis & his wife Janet of Moneta and Gerald Ellis of Moneta; Grandchildren, Tim Leonard, Glenda Viar, Sharri Love, Randy Ellis, Gerald Ellis Jr., Tracy Ellis, Lisa Ranson, Jeffrey Witt, Sonja Hertig, Michelle Dooley; 11 Great-Grandchildren, special nieces, Emma Jennings and Reva DeLong. She appreciated the loving care of her doctor, Phillip Shiner and with special thanks the family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider Gentle Shephard Hospice 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke 24019. A Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM at East Lake Community Church with Rev. Troy Keaton, Rev. Joey Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Western Light Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 29, 2010 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
