Louis Walker, 83 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, December 1, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Linwood Walker and Minnie Mitchell Walker.
Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict and he retired from VDOT as a superintendent.
He is survived by his wife, Helen F. Walker of Bedford; three sons, Randy L. Walker & wife, Brenda of Bedford, Donald "Duck" Walker of Bedford, Jeffrey "Jody" Walker of Bedford; a daughter, Wanda Massie of Lynchburg, five grandchildren, Jeremy Walker & wife, Rachel, Shannon Walker & wife, Crystal, Amanda Robinette & husband, Josh, Michael Massie, Bryan Massie & wife, Felicia, four great-grandchildren, Kayla Walker, Gavin Walker, Alyssa Walker, Caleb Robinette; two brothers, Rufus Walker of Bonsack, Leroy Walker of Moneta; two sisters, Reva W. Stanley of Mineral, Sue W. Ferguson of Huddleston.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford. with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 17, 2015, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. at the funeral home. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
