Chester Lee Bowling, Sr., 80 of Thaxton, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, October 27, 1934 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Albert Bowling and Verna Zimmerman Bowling. He was retired from the Moneta Dress Factory and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Frances Parker Bowling; three daughters, Judy Bowling Agee of Thaxton, Diane B. West & husband, Sammie of Bedford, Melissa Bowling Dishman & husband, Jim of Lynchburg; a son, Chester Bowling of Bedford; a step-daughter, Mary Vickhouse & husband, Larry of Norfolk as well as 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren & 7 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Jeane Dunkum officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Land USA - Mt. Olivet Memorial Park. Friends may call after 12 noon on Monday and the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
