Obituary of Nancy Lee Meador Woodford

Nancy Lee Meador Woodford, 82, of Easton, MD and formerly of Bedford County died on July 19, 2015 at Genesis HealthCare-The Pines. She was born May 11, 1933 at home in Moneta, the daughter of the late Victor Ott Meador and Lallie Hurt Meador. Nancy was a resident of Easton, MD for 61 years. She graduated from the Phillip’s Business School in 1952. Nancy played the piano for Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Moneta, VA and at the First Baptist Church in Easton, MD, in which she was a member. Nancy retired in 1992 from Service America Company after 24 years of service. She worked with the Meals on Wheels Program through Upper Shore Aging, Inc. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Nancy had numerous first cousins, nieces and nephews, who were very special to her. Mrs. Woodford was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Ernest Woodford, Jr., whom she married November 27, 1952 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Moneta, VA. Nancy was also preceded in death by a foster brother, Thomas Lazenby. She is survived by a son, G.E. Woodford and his wife, Kathy, of Hollywood, MD; a daughter, Vicki Atwood and her husband, Craig of Easton, MD; three grandsons, Ryan Woodford and his wife Jessi of Moorefield, WV, Nathan and Josh Atwood, both of Easton, MD; three great grandchildren, Autumn, Jayden and Bentley and two brothers-in-law, Fred Woodford and his wife, Emma and Davis Woodford and his wife, Brenda all of Huddleston, VA. Memorial contributions may be made to Upper Shore Aging, Inc., 100 Schauber Road, Chestertown, MD 21620 or Diamond Hill Baptist Church, 3541 Horseshoe Bend Drive, Moneta, VA 24121. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11 AM at Diamond Hill Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Friday, July 24, 2015 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
