Obituary of Winston Edward Kendrick, Jr.

Winston Edward Kendrick , Jr., 62 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Monday, March 16, 1953 in Bedford County, a son of Nancy Wells Kendrick Newman of Bedford who survives and the late Winston Edward Kendrick, Sr. He was a radio broadcaster at WBLT radio station for many years and was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Al Newman of Bedford; his sister, Cheri Kendrick & husband, Rev. Bill Wood of Fort Worth, TX & his brother, William W. Kendrick of Bedford; his aunts, Marie Thompson & husband, Joe, Polly Wells, all of Bedford, Claudine Preston of Huddleston. Those wishing to make memorials are asked to consider St. John's Episcopal Church, 314 North Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523 or Shriner's Children's Hospital, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33067. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wilson Brown & Rev. Steve Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
