Lawrence James Brown, 89 of Evington, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, June 22, 1921 in Leesville, VA a son of the late Colie D. Brown and Ethel Anne Cundiff Brown. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lena Mays Brown. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and a U. S. Army veteran having served during World War II. Surviving are his brothers, Odell James Brown of Roanoke; Wilbur Fred Brown of Lynchburg; a sister, Agnes B. Krantz of Huddleston, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Dooley and Rev. Grant Harbridge officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Mondayfrom 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
