Obituary of Marie Leftwich Creasey

Cynthia Marie Leftwich Creasey, 93 of Huddleston, VA went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on Friday, July 7, 1922 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Samuel Claudie Leftwich and Eddie Maude Hubbard Leftwich. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Bernice Creasey and a son, Terry M. Creasey and all of her siblings. Marie was a lifelong member of Huddleston United Methodist Church, where she was a dedicated member. She sang in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was always happy to do anything for her church and her faith in Jesus Christ never waivered in all of her life. She retired from Klopman Mills in 1974, was coordinator for the Huddleston Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years, a member of the Huddleston Ruritan Club, and enjoyed genealogy and was a great historian of her family history. She is survived by her daughters, Linda C. Creasey of Huddleston, Bonnie C. Baldwin of Bedford; her son, Douglas Creasey & wife, Brenda of Huddleston; three granddaughters, Kimberly Sykes & husband, Dave of Virginia Beach, Tammy Davidson of Lynchburg, Annick Bingham & husband, Aaron of OR; six grandsons, Donald Creasey, Brandon Creasey & girlfriend, Crystal, Derek Creasey & wife, Patricia, Brent Creasey all of Huddleston, Stephen & Preston Baldwin of Virginia Beach; her great-grandsons, Justin Miller, Hunter & Colton Creasey, Donovan, Connor & Kieran Garrett, Ayden and Emery Bingham; her great granddaughters, Emily Creasey, Julia Baldwin & Tessa Bingham as well as other family and friends. The family would like to thank her special caregiver, Janice Moon, Amedisys Hospice, Teresa, Jewel, Andrea, Sandy and the other members of the Amedisys team. A Funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Pastor Byungchul Sung, Rev. Steve Turner & Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Leftwich Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday after 1 PM and the family will receive friends from 5 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston and other times at the residence.
