Myrtle Layne Witt, 96 of Altavista, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born on Monday, May 5, 1919 in Bedford Co., a daughter of the late Felix Thornton Layne and Judith Woodson Cox Layne. She as also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thomas Witt, sons, Cecil O. Witt & Roy H. Witt as well as three brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Mildred V. Witt, Ruby W. Manley both of Lexington, NC, Rosa W. Adams of Huddleston; thirteen grandchildren, forty-one great grandchildren, twenty great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Evington Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
