Obituary of Nancy Spradlin Smith

Nancy Spradlin Smith, 66 of Bedford, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She was born on Monday, June 13, 1949 in Roanoke, a daughter of the late Albert Spradlin and Mary Ransom Spradlin. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Musick. She was a retired employee of Bedford County having worked in the Department of Building Inspections. She was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she was involved in many activities and programs including children's church and singing in the choir. Nancy is survived by her husband, Ronald Lee Smith; her daughters, Drema McClung & husband, Steven of Moneta, Jennifer Johnson & husband, Brian of Bedford; her son, Byron Smith & wife, Luljeta of Botetourt County; her grandchildren, Hunter McClung, Cory McClung, Logan McClung, Melina Smith, Aiden Smith, Morgan Smith & Clay Johnson as well as her sister, Rebecca Dooley Bryant of Bedford. The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Agape Center, P. O. Box 573, Moneta, VA 24121. Nancy was an active volunteer for Agape and enjoyed helping those in need. The family will receive friends Monday, October 26, from 5 until 7:30 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Mark Oblinger officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Land Cemetery.
