Obituary of James Franklin Baugher

Dr. James F. Baugher, 80, former long-time Superintendent of Schools of the Milton Area School District, died November 3, 2015 at his home in Huddleston, VA. Born August 17, 1935, in Harrisburg, PA, he was the only son of the late Raymond R. Baugher and Flavia Martz Baugher. He is survived by his wife and companion of 53 years, Mary Fisher Baugher; a daughter Jolynn B. Thagard and son-in-law William J. Thagard of Stafford, VA; a daughter Jean A. Cotner of Martinsville, VA; a son James R. Baugher and daughter-in-law Karen P. Baugher of Bristow, VA; and six grandchildren. A seventh grandchild preceded him in death in 1996. Baugher served as Superintendent of Schools from July 1, 1967, until his retirement on Aug. 15, 1993. The James F. Baugher Elementary School in Milton, PA was dedicated in his honor in October 2005. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at James F. Baugher Elementary School, 60 Brenda Rovenolt Drive, Nov. 14, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. A second memorial service will be held at Staunton Baptist Church, 15267 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA on November 21, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Staunton Baptist Church, Huddleston, VA 24104, Dr. James F.
