Florice Dowdy Wood, 74 of Leesville passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Gretna Health & Rehab. Center. She was born on Friday, May 16, 1941 in Campbell Co., a daughter of the late Allen Dowdy and Lillie Board Hackworth Dowdy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Owen Wood, Sr.
She was a cook at Altavista High School having retired after 32 years and was of the christian faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Wood Scott & husband, Randolph of Gretna; two sons, Timothy Allen Wood, Sr. & wife, Glenda, Ralph O. Wood, Jr. all of Leesville, her grandchildren, Paul Scott, Timothy A. Wood, Jr., Amanda Gregory; and her great grandchildren, Micah Wood, Claire Isabella Wood, Sophia Elania Wood; her step-great granddaughter, Savanna Gregory as well as her sisters, Frances D. Stevens of Huddleston and Reva D. Milton of Leesville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the graveside at Leesville United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jim Galford officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
