Obituary of Margaret Turner Key

Margaret Turner Key, 95 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, October 20, 1920 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Henry Franklin Turner and Vernie Massie Turner. She was also preceded in death by husband, Hugh Watts Key, Sr., to whom she was married to for seventy years, her grandson, W. Brooks Key, her sisters, Frances T. Martin, Nancy T. Reid, Ann T. Gray and her brother, John M. Turner. She was retired from Glassner Jewelers, was a lifelong member of Bedford Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class for many years. She was also a member of the Belmont Garden Club since 1957 and had a special love of planting, growing and arranging flowers. She is survived by her son, Hugh Watts Key, Jr. & wife, Cindy of Bedford; her granddaughter, Dana M. Key & special friend, Vincent Kidd; her great-granddaughter, Danielle "Dani" Williams & special friend, Justin Seward; her former daughter-in-law & mother of her grandchildren, Debbie C. Key, all of Bedford; her sister-in-law, Polly Turner of Bedford; her brother-in-law, Otis R. Martin of Bonifay, FL, as well as one niece & eight nephews and special friends, Brenda Babb & Carolyn Craig. The family would like to give special thanks to the English Meadows, Elks Home campus staff for the wonderful care & concern shown to Margaret while she was a resident there, especially Jenny & Barbara. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at the graveside at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
