Obituary of Rebecca Ann Blankenship Goad

Rebecca Ann Blankenship Goad, 77 of Bedford, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Centra Lynchburg Hospice House. She was born on Monday, August 1, 1938 and raised in Bedford County, a daughter of the late James Edgar Blankenship and Ruth Farley Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sherman Blankenship & Thomas Blankenship. She was retired from Bedford Weaving Mill having worked there for 30+ years and was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was a loving mother to Leslie Parker of Bedford, Robert Goad & wife, Annette of Bedford, James Goad & wife, Judy of Lowry, Donald Goad & wife, Connie of Altavista. She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Parker & wife, Samantha, Ethan Goad, Samantha "Sami" Goad, Nicholas Goad, Michael Goad and a great-grandmother to Allaynna Parker. She is also survived by her sisters, Emma Veddar of NY, Martha Edwards of Bedford, Eleanor Blankenship of Maryland. Funeral services will be held at the graveside on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Virginia Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Friends may call Friday after 12 noon and the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
