Lloyd Herman Bennett, 85 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at his residence. He was born on Sunday, October 12, 1930 in Campbell County, a son of the late Wealthy Green Bennett and Maude Pribble Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emily Ann Crouch Wilkerson Bennett as well as his son, Bobby Lloyd Bennett, his daughter, Carolyn "Cookie" M. Mason, his son Tommy Bennett and his step-son & daughter-in-law, Tony Bennett & wife, Ashley.
He was a retired self-employed contractor and was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his sons, Glenn David Bennett & wife, Donna of Chatham, Danny Wayne Bennett of Bedford; daughter, JoAnn Bennett Bailey & husband, Herb of Hurt; his step-daughter, Sabrina L. Wilkerson of Virginia Beach and his sisters-in-law, Jean Patterson Bennett, Myrtle Bennett both of Bedford as well as seven grandchildren & five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Steve Parker officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Mentow Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
