Richard Anderson Watson, 86 of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. He was born on Sunday, February 2, 1930 in Bedford County, a son of the late John Daniel Watson and Mattie Anderson Watson.
He was a retired from Rubatex, was also a farmer and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Mae Bays Watson; his son, Wayne R. Watson & wife, Cathy of Bedford; his daughter, Karen W. Craig & husband, Ray of Bedford; two granddaughters, Mickey Craig & Tori Watson.
The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider the Moneta Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 497, Moneta, VA 24121. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
