Earl Franklin Watkins, 72 of Big Island passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, June 16, 1943 in Raleigh Co., WV, a son of the late Carl B. Watkins and Katie Marie Comer Watkins. H was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Carol Gibson Watkins and a brother, Arthur L. Watkins.
He was retired from Owens-Illinois, was a U. S. Army veteran and was an outdoorsman, and he loved bear & ginseng hunting.
He is survived by his brothers, Carl D. Watkins, Charles D. Watkins, John W. Watkins all of Bedford, Jack D. Watkins of Martin, GA; his sister, Rosalie W. Huskin of Ila, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Chestnut Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Bevins officiating. Interment will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 5 until7 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
