Obituary of Jerry Meador

Jerry Meador, 94, of Moneta, VA passed away on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Virginia Veterans Care Center. He was born on Monday, October 10, 1921 in Franklin County, VA, a son of the late Jubal Meador and Sally Hurt Meador. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Arlene Tuck Meador. A long time member of Radford Baptist Church, he was a former employee and retired from VDOT with more than 20 years service. Jerry was a World War II Veteran having served the U.S. Army in the European Theatre and involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He is survived by his family, including in-laws Georgianna Tuck of Bedford; Norris & Betty Goode of Huddleston; Kenneth & Sara Tuck of Roanoke; Billy & Marie Tuck of Moneta; Jake & Nancy Bryan of Buchanan; Thelma Meador of Moneta and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Radford Baptist Church in Moneta, with the Rev. Tommy Floyd & Rev. Ted Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 4 until 7 pm. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Saunders Volunteer Fire Company , P.O. Box 14, Huddleston, VA 24104 or the Huddleston Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 77 Huddleston, VA, 24104.
