Obituary of Daphne Davidson Watson

Daphne Davidson Watson, 88 of Bedford, and formerly of Newport News, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, June 5, 1927 in Newport News, VA, a daughter of the late James W. Davidson and Lucinda Kidd Davidson. She was also preceded in death her husband of 54 years, Aaron Barnhardt Watson who passed away in 1997 as well as her brothers, James & Arthur Lee Davidson.
She has been a member of Olivet Christian Church 1 since 1936, the Order of the Eastern Star since 1846 and served as Worthy Grand Matron of VA in 96-97, and was active in numerous civic organizations. She was secretary at Lotz Realty for 32 years. She loved cooking for family and friends, salt water fishing and tending her yard.
She is survived by her only child, Judith Watson DeLoach & husband, Sam of Huddleston; Aaron (Chloe) and James DeLoach, great grandbaby, Mark Portress DeLoach and several nieces and nephews including Jim & Buzz Davidson and April Forrest.
The family requests those wishing to make memorials to consider ESTARL or your favorite charity.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Peninsula Funeral Home, Newport News with Rev. David Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 2 with OES Memorial Service at 6 PM followed by visitation until 7:30 PM.
Local arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
