John Russell Dotson, 80 of Huddleston passed away Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born on Wednesday, September 25, 1935 in Hurley, VA, a son of the late Charlie Dotson and Ida Thomas Dotson .
He is survived by his wife, Betty Tester Dotson of Huddleston; sons, Johnny W. Dotson & wife, Ester and Robert Mark Dotson & wife, Taiwana, all of Huddleston; 7 grandchildren; sisters: Pansy, Ilene, Sybil and Ruth; brothers: Glenn, Dallas, Hubert and Charlie.
He was Retired as a Self-employed carpenter and was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11:00 am at Palestine Baptist Church, Huddleston, with Pastor Dr. Kevin King officiating. Interment will follow in Palestine Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Updike Funeral Home, Huddleston. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
