Obituary of Lydia Padgett

Mrs. Lydia Louise Moore Padgett, of Fincastle, VA, formerly of Wytheville, VA went to her eternal home on September 2, 2010 at the age of 92. She was born in Rustburg, VA on October 19, 1917, the oldest child of the late Charlie Daniel and Lutie Kate Reynolds Moore. She married Eldridge Bowen Padgett, Sr. of Bedford, VA on July 21, 1941. After several years in Norfolk, VA, they made their home in Wytheville, VA where they were lifelong members of West End United Methodist Church. She spent her life taking care of her children, volunteering with her church, the Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, and numerous other charities and served 25 years as a 'Pink Lady' at Wythe Co. Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers and is survived by two sisters-in-law; Eva Dudley of Goode, VA and Marie Moore of Concord, VA; a brother-in-law, Harry Kerr of Gladys, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves her children, Carolyn McLaughlin, and husband Barry of Vidor, TX, EB Padgett, Jr. and wife Lynda of Roanoke, VA, and Sherri Padgett and husband David Ware of Fincastle, VA; her grandchildren Michael Bowen DeLuke of Dallas, TX, Jennifer Womer and husband TJ of Dallas, TX, and Christopher Noah Bowen Padgett and Brenda Hodges of Buchanan, VA; and a new great-grandson, Hudson Alfred Womer of Dallas, TX. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at a graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery, Bedford, VA on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 11 AM. Mother never wanted, nor asked, for anything. So in her memory, please volunteer your time to a worthy cause you believe in, take a Senior citizen to lunch, make a contribution to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, or to your favorite charity.
