Betty Jean "B.J." Campbell Parker of Bedford, Virginia died peacefully at the Elk’s National Home on July 27, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Thaxton Parker. Born on November 12, 1931 in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Harry Edward Campbell & Dorothy Bickford Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Campbell.
She attended Andrew Lewis High School and Hollins College of Music. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to all. She was always busy on the farm and with her music. She was formerly the organist at Bedford Baptist Church and Bedford Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She had many special friends in the community and volunteered her time to help in many ways, Bedford Primary School and Tuesday School at Bedford Presbyterian were two of her favorites. Her Bridge Club was an awesome support group. Thank you to all of those beautiful people.
She is survived by her children, G. Thaxton Parker, David Campbell Parker and his wife, Tammy, John Bickford Parker, Betsey Parker Reid; eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter and two brothers, Jim Campbell and Harry Campbell.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Bedford Presbyterian Church with the service following at 3:00 pm with the Reverend John Salley officiating.
God gained a special angel arriving with a bouquet of daisies in her hand. She loved her flowers and nature.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bedford.
