Ruby May Whorley, 86 of Bedford, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her residence. She was born July 12, 1930 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late John Quarles Whorley, Sr. & Juanita Dudley Whorley. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Quarles Whorley, Jr.
She was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation and a longtime member of Nicopolis United Methodist Church where she was given a certificate of Appreciation for forty-four years of outstanding service as the Sunday School Secretary.
She is survived by her sister, Joanne Bobbitt of Bedford and a special sister-in-law, Margaret B. Whorley of Bedford.
The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Nicopolis United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 beginning at 10:00 AM and a funeral service will follow at 11 AM at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in the Nicopolis United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
