Jack Lee Coleman, Sr., 84 of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born on August 26, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Gordon H. Coleman and Ellen Ruff Coleman. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Galbreth.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Bedford County, having graduated from Bedford High School and Lynchburg College. His passions were his family, golf, his tomatoes and Hokie football. He loved the beach but his true love was the Peaks of Otter and the surrounding mountains. He traveled the country extensively during his long tenure with Rubatex but always loved coming home. During the last year of his life, he was a devoted companion and caregiver to his loving wife, Pat. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Baker Coleman; his daughter, Debra Anne Coleman of Bedford; two sons, Gordon Emerald Coleman & fiance, Preston Bond of Forest; Jack Lee Coleman, Jr. & wife, Amy Waryas Coleman of Franklin County; three grandchildren, Carmen Elizabeth Kurek & husband, Mark, Nicholas Baker Coleman, Makayla Brooke Womble; a great grandson, Henry Adam Kurek; a brother, Bennie Herman Coleman of Bedford; two sisters, Dot Chadwick of Williamsburg; Gayle Gray of Charleston, SC.
