Gladys Cocke Mayberry, 87 of Bedford, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her residence. She was born on Saturday, September 22, 1928 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late James Esmond Cocke and Lillian Wilson Cocke. She was also preceded in death by husband, Travis Henry Mayberry.
She was a member of Longwood Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Janice Mayberry Dooley & husband, Gerald, Joan Mayberry Leidich all of Bedford; her grandchildren, Rachel Baker & husband, Wesley, Robin Karnes & husband, Danney, Dana Leidich, Joey Leidich; her great-grandchildren, Cameron Leidich, Brooke Hodges, Travis Lilley, Scott Arrington, Landon Karnes, Max Leidich; her brothers, Eugene Cocke & wife, Denise, Willard Cocke & wife, Shirley all of Bedford, Raymond Cocke of Burton, MI as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Longwood Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Ross Gilfillen officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
