Obituary of John Edward Norcross, Sr.

We’re all given jobs when we’re placed on this earth. John Norcross was a builder. He spent his life crafting things by hand and building spaces that would become the foundation for families and generations. He lived his life in a similar way-becoming the foundation on which the Norcross family was built. Though he passed away on August 19, 2016, he leaves behind a foundation and legacy of hard work and laughter-a legacy that the loved ones he leaves behind will carry with them. John Norcross is survived by his wife, Martha B. Norcross. He also leaves behind two sons, John Norcross and David Norcross, and a daughter, Leslie Miller. Along with them are their partners and support systems, Teresa Norcross and Steve Serventi, and John and Martha’s many grandchildren, Carie Murphy, Danielle Jensen, Courtney Norcross, Ashley Tomlin, Megan Norcross, Amanda Greenberg, Jason Miller and their spouses and children. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford.
