Anna Witt Whalen, 80 of Goode, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Oakwood Health & Rehab. Center. She was born on Wednesday, February 5, 1936 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Osby Bennett Johnson and Verna Arthur Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her 1st husband, Clarence Witt and her 2nd husband, William H. Abbott.
She was retired from Sam Moore Furniture and was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, the Women of the Moose, TOPS and Weight Watchers.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Whalen; her son, C. Jeffrey Witt & wife, DeeDee of Bedford; her daughters, Judy Witt Tuck of Bedford, Debra Witt Carlson & husband, Scotty of Goode; her grandchildren, Benjie Tuck, Harley Powell, Stephanie Carlson, Kimberly Carlson, Meredith Witt, J. J. Witt; five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; her brother, Cecil B. Johnson & wife, Elsie of Bedford; her sister, Phyllis Smith & husband, Walter of Rustburg; her sister-in-law, Wilma Johnson of Bedford,
Funeral services will be held at the graveside at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
