Stewart Stone, 89, died peacefully at his home in Bedford, VA on the evening of September 21, 2016. Stewart was a fun loving, lady’s man with a great sense of humor. He was a very proud man who loved his family and cherished his friendships. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Stone and Nellie Overstreet and a son, Anthony J. Stone. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Caldwell, Sheila Cutshaw (Jimmy) and his son, Todd Stone (Marci), his five grandchildren: Sheri Rose (Russ), Tina Barker (Dale), Teresa Ashwell, Kelli Harvey (Nik), Kamryn Stone; ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, a cousin Leo “Pee Wee” Dooley (Inez), and best friends, Edgar Mitchell & Bill Hopkins (Dorinda). He was Veteran of WWII, and retired from the Town of Bedford Electric Department with 42 years’ of service. He was an avid gardener, loved Nascar racing, fishing and his many trips to Atlantic City. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford
