Delano Lee Bowman, 83 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the Salem Veterans Administration Hospital. He was born on Friday, March 3, 1933 in Jenkin Jones, WV, a son of the late John Andy Bowman and Pansy Elvira Dye Bowman. He was retired from the U. S. Army having served in Korea and Vietnam and was a Marine Electrician Technician and a welding instructor. He was also a Master Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Cecilia Mae Seddon Bowman; two sons, James L. Bowman of Huddleston, Daniel P. Bowman of Bedford; a brother, Clyde Vic Bowman of Ft. Myers, FL; two sisters, Patsy Elizabeth Bowman of Amherst, Anita Green Bowman of WV.
The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Huddleston and a memorial service will follow at 2 PM and will be officiated by Rev. Jason Arthur. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post # 16.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Huddleston.
