Obituary of Betty Jean Campbell Davis

Surrounded by her children and her dear husband of sixty-three years, Mom fought the fight, kept the faith and walked into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday morning, October 5, 2016. Betty Jean Campbell Davis, 79 years, was born in Bedford County on February 17, 1937, a daughter of the late Joshua Edward Campbell and Ora Leigh Mattox Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Herbert, Ed & Henry Campbell. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Russell Franklin Davis; her children, Glenn Davis & wife, Tracey, Ronnie Davis & wife, Trish, Deborah Reynolds & husband, Charlie, Mark Davis & wife, Rhonda and Amy Clark. She is also survived by her brother, Clayton Campbell & wife, Betty of Waynesboro; her sisters, Lena Angus of Big Island, Ruby Mays of Appomattox, Effie Mays of Lovingston and Virginia Manley of Bedford. She loved and will be dearly missed by twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses deep, loving appreciation to Trish Davis for the care she provided to mom during her sickness. A special thanks to caregivers Lisa Rood, Polly Dinkins and Kim Hensley. Thank you to Seven Hills Hospice for your wonderful care. The family requests that those wishing to make memorials to consider Sedalia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1072 Charlemont Road, Big Island, VA 2456. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Sedalia Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Jones and Rev. Bill Owsley conducting the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Sedalia Baptist Church.
