Richard Lewis Ruff, 87 of Forest, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Thursday, October 10, 1929 in Bedford County. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Ruff and a son, Danny Ruff.
He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Rachel P. Ruff; his sons, Ronnie (Juanell) Ruff, Ricky Ruff, Ricky Phelps; his step-sons, Donnie & Ronnie Phillips; his daughters, Linda (Terry) Smith, Carolyn (Doug) Kersey, Darlene (Rob) Provo, Donna Primm; his daughter-in-law, Bonnie C. Ruff; his brother, Cecil (Bertha) Ruff; his sisters, Lois Overstreet, Peggy Nester as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Eric Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in Peaks Presbyterian Church & Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
