Verna Inez Pryor Arrington, 97 of Goode, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Campbell Rest Home. She was born on Monday, April 7, 1919 in Bedford County, the youngest child of the late Rosser Hartwell Pryor and Lillie Reynolds Pryor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Wralph Arrington and all of her ten siblings. Verna was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and lived in the Charlemont area of Bedford County on Oslin Creek 70+ years following her marriage.
She is survived by several nieces & nephews and a very close friend, William (Bill) Hyatt who was like the son she never had, as well as neighbors, Joe & Judy Collins.
The family requests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Ebenezer United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 beginning at 10 AM at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford and a funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Rev. Mark Wilkerson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
