Ronald L. Tyree, 61, of Moneta, VA, loving husband and cherished father, passed on to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Ron was born March 18, 1955 in Lynchburg, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Leebrick McKinney, his father, Preston Tyree, step father, James McKinney, brother, Ray Tyree, and sister, Peggy Croft.
Ron was a Sales Representative for Books Are Fun for 21 years. He enjoyed coaching football, wrestling and going to UVA football games with his sons and brothers, Tony and Jeff and friends.
Surviving to cherish Ron’s memory are his wife, Debbie; sons, Jeremy and Chris, of Moneta, VA; brothers, Tony McKinney and wife, Sharon, of Bedford, Jeff McKinney and wife Stephanie of Roanoke, VA; brother in law, Fred Croft of Bedford, VA. Ron had a special place in his heart for all of his nieces, nephews & extended family.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the University of Virginia, Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, Dr. Ryan Gentzler, Oncologist, The Palliative Care group and also to Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center in Lynchburg, VA & Dr. Michael O’Neill.
The family will receive friends beginning at 4 PM on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, VA and a memorial service will follow at 7 PM in the chapel.
